Upper Green River
The Upper Green River over the past few days has seen a wild swing of weather. Last Thursday, May 5th, it was wet wade warm and then less than 24 hours later it rained around 3 inches, then Saturday we had full on blizzard conditions. The, last night it rained again. Ah, spring time in the Rockies. So, the river is high and off color and will more than likely be so for awhile. BUT, with these extreme weather swings, who knows! Please contact us to get the daily update on conditions. The current snowpack is sitting at 77%, which should bring good flows through the summer.
Our current plans are to guide on the Upper Green River, from the Green River Lakes down to where the first tributary, the Roaring Fork, comes into the Upper Green River. Our Upper Green River trips are through Black Diamond Outfitters. The Upper Green River is truly God’s country and we’re super excited about getting our valued clients out on the water this season. You ALWAYS have the opportunity to catch the fish of your lifetime in this area. As the snow melts and the middle reaches settle down and clear, we will progressively move our guiding operation downstream. The streamflow prediction is below.
As you can see by the chart below, we’ve had two major warm up periods and now we’e had the deluge of rain, which melts the snow too. Please check in our reports regularly and feel free to call us ANYTIME! 307-739-7020
