Wacky Weather

So far, this summer has been filled with wacky weather patterns. Everyone around the country seems to understand as this is happening in their areas too.  It seems as though no two days have been the same since the heat wave in late June subsided. We were on the river near Daniel Wyoming on Tuesday and it was chilly all day long. When we got off the river at 3:45pm the temperature was 55 degrees. The national weather service recently issued this statement “Record coldest high temperature of 62 at Big Piney today, previously 79 in 2004 and 2011.” CRAZY! Then yesterday it was near 80. The national weather service has attributed this weather pattern to El Nino.

The reason I mention this is because the weather has had a profound effect on the fishing conditions. So far the water temperatures have rebounded from the heat wave several weeks ago and are holding steady which has produced prolific hatches have been consistent and abundant! And for all of our clients who are wanting to know the plan in advance, we’re running on a day to day basis due to the wacky weather.

Be careful, especially while out on the water as 60% of all lightening strikes happen while recreating on or near the water.
